Lifetime Landscape Design
We started with a blank canvas for this project. Our client wanted to create a functional yet beautiful space that they will enjoy for the rest of their lives.
A key element of this design is the bistro flagstone patio. Given the proximity to the neighbors, we wanted to create a secret bistro flagstone patio to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.
An existing covered patio is complemented with plantings to soften the edges. Intuitive access paths around the home connect all the outdoor spaces. Sensible plantings with year-round interest around the property compliment functional elements to create something that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Pacific Northwest Oasis Design
Our client wanted a complete renovation of their one acre landscape. The builders of their new home put in a minimal landscape allowing for Apex to come in and produce a plan complementing their home and site. Our client wanted to highlight their fern covered ravine and natural surroundings to bring nature closer to the house.
A few key elements produced a cohesive design integrating the home and landscape. We recommended installing an overlooking deck on the ravine giving them a place to sit and enjoy the view. Secondly, we designed a secret patio in the ravine for a peaceful spot to relax, a truly envelope the natural surroundings. Adding a gas fireplace in their already existing covered outdoor space makes it usable year-round. These elements combined with extensive plantings created a Pacific Northwest oasis outside their doorstep.
Outdoor Entertainment Landscape Design
Our client desired a place to entertain year around in their back landscape. Given the small size of the property and steep grade provided challenges to make this happen.
This design only highlights the covered BBQ structure, but we also incorporated a raised gas fire pit area with natural stone access steps and built-in seating, installed sensible and aesthetic lighting, retained a small patch of grass for their dogs, and specified plantings with year-round interest to produce a fine entertainment area that can be used throughout the seasons.
Puget Sound Waterfall Design
Our client wanted to bring a classic Pacific Northwest waterfall into their backyard. This water feature has two waterfalls connected by streams and designed to empty into a pond-less system in a below ground reservoir. The pond-less system has major advantages over a normal pond as it utilizes less water, requires lower maintenance and takes up less space. This water feature is complemented by native ferns, mossy rocks, as well as local driftwood logs. These elements stitched together created a Pacific Northwest waterfall in the comfort of their own home.
